Kekoskee, Wisconsin, is a village rich in history and community spirit. On October 5, 2018, Kekoskee expanded by attaching the former Town of Williamstown, creating a unified and vibrant community. The village takes pride in its agricultural roots, with families like the Schwarze family celebrating 150 years of farming in 2015.

The area’s history is brought to life through stories like those shared by Donald Roll, who served as Town Clerk for 42 years, and Bill Lee, who documented the Van Brunt family’s legacy as some of the first settlers.
Kekoskee is also home to unique tales, such as Rob Bowe's "The Greatest Fish Story Ever Told on Earth."

Kekoskee River Day – September 12, 2026
Celebrate small-town Wisconsin fun at Kekoskee River Day, an annual community event held at River Park in Kekoskee. This family-friendly event brings together live music, local vendors, food, entertainment, and outdoor community spirit along the scenic Rock River.
Visitors can enjoy a full day of activities including a brat and burger fry, craft fair, flea market, vendor booths, and adult beverages. The event also features filming for the popular Mad Dog & Merrill Midwest Grill'n TV show beginning around 10:00 AM.
A highlight of the day is the Native American Artifacts Road Show, where collectors and history enthusiasts can showcase and socialize over artifact collections from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Live music by the Rhonda Jean Duo runs from noon to 5:00 PM, featuring a mix of classic rock and country favorites.

Parking is available via the new access road off Highway Y. Watch for event directional signs when arriving.
Kekoskee River Day is a great opportunity to explore the Marsh Area, support local businesses, and experience one of Dodge County’s unique community celebrations.
The Gold Star Trail
The Gold Star Trail is a non-motorized path connecting Mayville to the Horicon Marsh State Wildlife Area Visitors Center, honoring fallen service members and their families. Phases 2-5 will extend the trail to Horicon and Beaver Dam, offering walking and biking opportunities. Learn more or support the trail at goldstarmemorialtrailwi.org.
