Explore Mayville’s Past at the Limestone School Museum
Step inside one of Wisconsin’s most historic school buildings—the Mayville Limestone School Museum, open to visitors on the 1st and 3rd Sundays, May through October, from 1:30–4:30 PM.
Built in 1857 and expanded in 1876, this beautifully preserved limestone structure served as a public school for over 120 years. Now a museum, it showcases Mayville’s rich educational and industrial history, including exhibits on local schools, the limestone industry, and the community's past. Visitors can view the original school bell, a restored replica of the iconic cupola, and many artifacts that tell the story of Mayville through the decades.
